Action Potentials inLupinus angustifoliusL. Shoots

Abstract
The character of action potentials induced by thermal or electrical stimulation and their blocking by removal of a ring of tissue from the shoot as well as the spread of these potentials in the Lupinus shoot were investigated. The appearance of another type of excitation was noted as a graded response occurring locally. This potential was termed graded potential (GP). It appears in tissues in which action potentials (AP) are not observed. It is proposed that two interrelated types of reaction to stimuli occur in various types of plant tissue.
