Abstract
We have formulated and numerically evaluated the total collision rate of planetesimals onto a protoplanet, taking into account the solar gravity in the framework of Hill's equation. Though the obtained collision rate does not differ considerably from that in the two-body approximation, its enhancement has notable peaks; these peaks are closely related to the runaway growth of a protoplanet. From the results obtained here, we can completely describe the collision rate used in the study of planetary accumulation if we know the distribution function of planetesimals and the eccentricity and inclination of the protoplanet as a function of time. Keywords
