Abstract
Ions have long been known or suspected to play a major role in various physical and biological phenomena. The majority of these phenomena occur in condensed phases; e.g., electrical conductivity, melting points, Lewis acid-base behavior, and the sodium pump in active transport across membranes—the list could go on ad infinitum. Keywords
