Abstract
Study of artifacts from the Folsom and Lindenmeier sites in the Denver Museum collection has documented the occurrence of Edwards chert from central Texas in both assemblages. The specimens were Identified wzth the azd of ultraviolet light, which produces a distinctive fluorescent color range from most Edwards chert samples. The presence of Flattop chalcedony in the Folsom assemblage is also documented. The implications of long distance occurrences of high quality cherts in Paleoindian assemblages are briefly d1scussed and preliminary information on the response of selected cherts to ultraviolet light is prowded. The use of this technique may be of considerable service to investigators interested in sourcing selected raw material types. Keywords
