Abstract
Factor analysis of replies to a 35-item questionnaire concerning practice teaching from 523 students in teachers’ colleges in Ontario yielded six factors interpreted as representing different kinds of experiences. Of these, the major factor of experience of support and guidance was found to be most important for the rating of practice teaching as a learning experience. However, a minor factor representing the quality of the personal relationship with the class and the supervising teacher proved more highly related with rated satisfaction with the practice program.
