Abstract
Twelve rat phrenic nerve-diaphragm preparations were used to investigate the neuromuscular interactions of propanidid, suxamethonium, tubocurarine and mipafox (an anticholinesterase compound). The potentiation of suxamethonium by propanidid was demonstrated to be a neuromuscular effect, and was increased by chemical inactivation of cholinesterase. A complex interaction between tubocurarine and propanidid was found. A hypothesis for these actions of propanidid is propounded. Keywords
