Abstract
Estradiol-17[beta] and estrone were found in the ovaries of the dogfish, and the ova of this species contains estradiol-17[beta]. The presence of progesterone was also indicated along with other progestational substances, particularly 20a-hydroxypregn-4-en-3-one. It is significant that the same steroids are found in the ovary of an elasmobranch fish as in mammals. Keywords
