Abstract
The occurrence of temporal oscillations in the Brusselator model is perfectly compatible with such basic physicochemical laws as detailed balance at equilibrium and the law of conservation of mass for closed chemical systems. The recent erroneous claims asserting the contrary are refuted. We also discuss the mathematical conditions, ensuring that the model's dynamics faithfully approximate those of an alternative reaction scheme involving only mono- and bi-molecular chemical steps. Keywords
