Algorithms for the computation of optimal output feedback gains

Abstract
Several algorithms for the computation of optimal output feedback gains are given. In all these, two aspects of the problem-the problem of initial guess and the problem of convergence - are discussed in detail. To overcome the first problem, an alternative is suggested to the algorithm presented in. The limitations and complexities of the other algorithms are also discussed. A direct search algorithm is also presented which results in global optimum. The programming effort for this algorithm is less compared to other algorithms. Considering a numerical example, a comparison of all the algorithms is presented.
