Abstract
The concentration of lead in the whole blood of 13 of 64 patients suffering from lead colic, when investigated promptly on admission for study and treatment (before the institution of any therapy), ranged from somewhat less than 40µg/100 ml to just under 80µg/100 ml. [No information as to the duration, severity, or time of termination of the exposure to lead of these patients appears to have been available (editorial comment, Robert A. Kehoe, MD).] The conclusion follows that the finding of a low level of lead content in the blood, of itself, is not always a proper basis for the diagnostic exclusion of lead intoxication. Keywords
