Abstract
2 cases are reported in which the use of ethionamide and kanamycin resulted in elevation of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase levels. In 1 there was also elevation of the serum bilirubin and sulfobromophthalein retention. Pending clarification of these hepatotoxic effects, it is urged that appropriate liver function tests be done prior to, during and following ethionamide therapy.
