Detection of Beryllium by Means of the Be9 (α, nγ)C12 Reaction

Abstract
The gamma rays of 4.4 MeV arising when Be is bombarded with alpha particles were used for the detection of Be in various known concentrations in blood plasma, red blood cells and other tissues. The presence of B, Al, Mg and other elements disturb the reaction. Various other factors influencing the analysis of Be in this way are discussed.
