Abstract
An objective and sensitive method is described for measuring tuberculin skin sensitivity in rats, based on the radioactive labelling with 3HT of bone marrow precursors of monocytes. These cells accumulate in DTH reactions and were measured by liquid scintillation spectrophotometry of biopsy specimens. DTH was detectable with eliciting doses of PPD as low as 1 μg and was shown to be immunologically specific. Criteria of DTH were established which permitted the detection of low degrees of sensitivity with a high degree of confidence.
