Abstract
Ion-induced Auger electron spectra of Mg and Al were investigated under various oxygen partial pressures. Some peaks reduced their intensities as the oxygen patial pressure increased, while other peaks showed only a slight decrease. The feature of the Auger peaks seems to correlate with the charge state of the excited atoms emitting Auger electrons. The results proved to be useful for the assignment of Auger transitions. Keywords
