Abstract
The proton pickup reaction () has been used to investigate states in and . The angular distributions resulting from populating five states in which are predominantly single-hole in character have been analyzed to obtain spectroscopic factors. In the spectrum, doublets corresponding to the interaction of proton holes in the four lowest-lying orbits with a neutron hole are the strongest states observed. The proton-hole strength is found in several levels of . The positions and intensities of the observed levels are in quantitative agreement with the nuclear-structure calculations of Kuo.
