Abstract
About one hour after sunset on clear nights around midsummer, rather lovely clouds in fine filigree patterns may sometimes be seen to gradually take shape in the darkening northern sky. These are the noctilucent or luminous night clouds. They generally remain continuously visible from the British Isles until about an hour before dawn when they slowly vanish in the brightening sky. Keywords
