Abstract
Binge eating (BE) is common among overweight and obese individuals seeking weight loss treatment,1,2 and there is some indication that it is associated with poor treatment compliance.3-6 Some have suggested that BE needs to be addressed prior to weight loss,7,8 but empirical support for this recommendation is lacking. Research indicates that behavioral weight loss treatment does not exacerbate or precipitate BE,9,10 that BE status is not associated with weight loss outcomes,5,11,12 and that BE may in fact improve with weight loss treatment.13,14Keywords
