Acceptability and effectiveness of self‐administered intramuscular insulin in juvenile‐onset diabetes

Abstract
Four juvenile‐onset diabetic patients, poorly controlled on subcutaneous insulin, received twice‐daily, self‐administered intramuscular insulin, using a 25g 1 needle. All patients reported the intramuscular route to be as acceptable as the subcutaneous route. In one patient, the intramuscular route produced a marked improvement in diabetic control.
