90-gram female rats were adrenalectomized; controls were pair-fed with exptl. animals. After 2 to 8 wks., epiphyseal growth had been increased and periosteal growth decreased in adrenalectomized group. Testosterone propionate increased periosteal bone formation in adrenalectomized-spayed rats without affecting epiphyseal growth.
