Abstract
The Windsor, Canso, and Riversdale Groups of Nova Scotia, originally described as time-stratigraphic units, are now shown to be valid lithologic units in certain districts in Nova Scotia and invalid in others. Revision of the middle Carboniferous units is based on lithologic correlation of previously described rock units with previously described time-stratigraphic units. The Mabou Formation is raised to group status to replace the Canso and Riversdale Groups, and consists of the natural lithogenetic unit of nonmarine lutite and sandstone overlying the restricted Windsor Group and underlying or laterally equivalent to the marginal-basin Coarse Fluvial Facies. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
