Abstract
Nucleoside diphosphate kinase [EC 2.7.4.6] from Escherichia coli B was partially purified, and kinetic studies of the action of desdanine were carried out. Desdanine was found to be an irreversible and specific inhibitor of the enzyme. The inhibition progressed with time and also depended on temperature. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) but not thymidine diphosphate (dTDP) protected the enzyme from the action of desdanine. Some properties of the enzyme were also determined. Keywords
