Abstract
To the Editor: The following observations suggest that allopurinol (Zyloprim) played a part in the resolution of long standing sarcoid lesions, involving both the skin and the lung.Case 1 was a 60-year-old man with a 17-year history of Boeck's sarcoid. The biopsy-proved lesions involved the hilar regions of the lungs, the lung parenchyma and the skin in a butterfly distribution on the face, on the earlobes and on the anterior chest wall. In view of progressive shortness of breath, dyspnea on exertion, a productive cough and pulmonary-function tests consistent with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a course of steroid . . .
