Abstract
The present study evaluated the effects of an interactive puppet program aimed at reducing the incidence of violence and drug abuse in a sample of 290 African-American youths. Ethnically representative puppets presented skits on problem situations that reflected the everyday realities of study youth. One condition viewed puppet skits and toured exhibits that reinforced the learning from skits; a second condition viewed skits only; and the third condition did not receive intervention. Youth outcomes for both intervention conditions support the feasibility of using interactive puppet performances to reduce violence and drug abuse in vulnerable youthsKeywords
