Abstract
Of 4 pairs of cows, the 1st had a ration containing very little of the fat soluble vitamins, and considerably less than that of the 2nd. The 3rd and 4th pairs received the better basal ration, and cod liver oil in addition, pair 3, 2 oz. daily, and pair 4 graded doses up to 6 and 8 oz. daily. The butter produced by cows on the better basal ration was of moderate antirachitic potency, and was equal in that respect to butter from cows that received 2 oz. daily of cod liver oil. The larger amount of cod liver increased the antirachitic potency, but decreased the milk flow. The more rigorous basal diet resulted in the production of butter of low antirachitic activity. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
