Analysis of hadronic transitions inϒ(3S)decays

Using the CLEO II detector, we have measured the branching fractions for $\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(3S\right)\mathrm{}\to \pi \pi \Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(1S\right)\mathrm{}$, $\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(3S\right)\mathrm{}\to \pi \pi \Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(2S\right)\mathrm{}$, and the cascade $\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(3S\right)\mathrm{}\to \Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(2S\right)+X$, $\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(2S\right)\mathrm{}\to {\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(1S\right)\mathrm{}$, analyzing the exclusive mode where the daughter $\Upsilon$ state decays to a $e^{+}{e}^{-}$ or ${\mu }^{+}{\mu }^{-}$ pair, as well as the inclusive ${\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}$ transitions where the final $\Upsilon$ state decays into hadrons. Properties of the $\pi \pi$ system are analyzed. Searches for the cascade decay $\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(3S\right)\mathrm{}\to {\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}{h}_b$, $h_b\to \gamma {\eta }_b$ and $\Upsilon \mathrm{}\left(3S\right)\mathrm{}\to {\pi }^0{h}_b$ were also performed.
