Abstract
Observation of 10 autopsy cases of sarcoidosis was carried out, with special attention to the distribution of affected lymph nodes and organs, in relation to the progress of the lesions in the body. All lymph nodes were not involved systemically, but the tracheo-mediastinal nodes were affected in all cases. It is suggested that the initial lesion occurs within the lung, with subsequent changes in the hilar and tracheo-mediastinal nodes. Then lesions are disseminated hematogenously throughout the body via lymphatics flowing into the subclavian vein. The histologic structure of sarcoid granuloma was compared with that of tubercles, and the stainability of arginophilic fiber in a necrotic area was discussed.
