Abstract
Tetracrium amphibium sp. nov. is described. This fungus was found on decaying wood remote from any watercourse, but its distinctive spores agree in detail with spores of an unidentified freshwater Hyphomycete collected in South Australian creeks. It is suggested that some freshwater Hyphomycetes may originate from soil and humus along stream banks, and that this habitat might be a fruitful source of fungi whose detached spores are numerous in streams and difficult to identify. Observation suggests that some scolecospores in streams are possibly uncoiled helicospores. Keywords
