Abstract
This paper reviews the biochemistry of polyols other than glycerol and inositol, except where discussion of these two substances is especially relevant to a point under consideration. It tabulates their natural occurrence, both free and combined, in a wide variety of organisms,-plant, animal, and microorganisms; and discusses their metabolism and practical significance. Keywords
