Abstract
Cerium(III) chloride efficiently hydrolyzes DNA at pH 7 under aerobic conditions. A titration study showed that Ce(III) is oxidized to Ce(IV) in the reaction mixture and the resultant Ce(IV) is responsible for the DNA hydrolysis.Keywords
