Abstract
Intrathecal administration of labeled adenine and orotic acid in cats resulted in rapid incorporation into pentose nucleic acid in white and gray matter of the neuraxis and in spinal nerve roots. Spinal ganglion exhibited much less active incorporation into PNA. Deoxy-pentose nucleic acid showed little incorporation until a number of days after administration of labeled precursors when it became significantly radioactive. The specific activity of PNA and DNA showed little apparent diminution after 51 days in the case of adenine. Biochemical proof of incorporation into DNA is not yet available. Keywords
