Effect of Deficiency of Magnesium and Other Minerals on Protein Synthesis

Abstract
Female albino rats, depleted 25% in body wt. by protein restriction for 4 weeks, gained over 1/3 more wt. during 10 days on a complete diet than on a diet deficient only in Mg, but the latter regime enabled rats to gain about 1/3 more than did a diet containing a mineral mixture of only NaCl and KCl, which in turn allowed a gain about 1/3 greater than did a ration containing no mineral supplements.
