Abstract
"Findings from this investigation indicate that there is a very definite fear reaction in animals subjected to electroconvulsive shocks. Moreover, the resulting fear is of sufficient intensity to inhibit a strongly reinforced hunger-motivated level-pressing habit which had originally been learned in the environment in which the shocks were administered. The possible influence of physiological stress elements induced by the convulsive episode as contributing to these findings is cited."
