Abstract
Techniques of mathematics and molecular science are providing greater insight into ecological problems. Animal behavior, stress ecology, community metabolism, and evolutionary ecology are especially being benefited. Theoretical analysis of complex, multi-component ecological systems is already contributing to our understanding of lower level systems, and such studies are likely to aid eventually in the analysis of such systems as the functional cell.
