Severe Tissue Damage following Accidental Subcutaneous Infusion of Bicarbonate Solution

Abstract
Four patients with severe necrosis of superficial and deep tissue following subcutaneous leakage of 8.4% sodium bicarbonate solution during successful resuscitation were seen. In all patients necrosis was extensive involving skin, subcutaneous tissue, deep fascia, muscle, regional veins and adjacent superficial nerves.
