Abstract
The electrostatic potential inside a cavity of an ionic crystal is determined by means of an analytical interpolation, without the use of the reciprocal lattice. The degree of approximation is discussed with regard to the dimension and shape of the cavity. The total crystalline potential can be calculated at any point of the lattice. The method is applied to NaCl, CaCO3, NaN3 and CsCl.Keywords
