Blastomycosis

Abstract
IN the case presented below, a nine-year-old girl died in Boston after a severe, progressive respiratory illness of six weeks' duration. A clinical diagnosis of "North American" blastomycosis was made shortly before death and was confirmed at autopsy and on post-mortem culture. The unusual features included the patient's age and sex, the fulminant clinical course, and the geographic location.
