Abstract
Numerous terminal swellings of interrupted nerve fibers pointing toward the stump of the optic nerve of a 22-month-old child five days after enucleation are new evidence for the existence of centrifugal nerves in man. The degeneration of the neurons and the astroglia as well as the reaction of the microglia in the optic nerve stump at this stage are observed. Keywords
