Abstract
In a study decay associated with logging damage in the Prince George region of British Columbia, 873 spruce and balsam trees with 2938 scars were analyzed. Scars averaged 5, 15, and 31 years of age and were classified according to their position, size, and depth. The relation of scar infection to locality, tree diameter, site, and to scar position, size, depth, and age was studied. The average volume of decay associated with scars of different types and ages was determined, and the fungi most frequently found associated with the decay are reported. Keywords
