Surface Properties of Amniotic Fluid Bubbles

Abstract
The properties of bubbles produced by shaking amniotic fluid with 95-percent ethanol, have been investigated and have been compared with the results of tests on liquor for fetal pulmonary maturity. Properties similar to those reported in bubbles expressed from lungs have been observed, which seem to be related to the maturity of the fetus. A phenomenon of synchronous clicking, observed in colonies of amniotic fluid bubbles, has been described.
