Abstract
The position of the elbow joint and activity in the muscles which surround this joint have been studied in some protective movements. From a standing rest position 10 subjects have voluntarily fallen from different directions against a 25 cm high power plate. The elbow joint of the arm which is stretched out during the fall to brake the headlong fall of the body is found to have a somewhat bent position in the actual braking moment. Consequently the elbow joint is well muscularly stabilized before the braking begins. The results of the experiments are discussed. Keywords
