Complexes of Some N‐Substituted Picolinamides with Pd(II) and Pt(II)

Abstract
The new complexes Pt(NopyH)2Cl2, Pt(NmpyH)2Cl2, Pt(BpnH2)Cl2·1.5H2O, Pt(Bpn).4H2O and Pd(Bpn).H2O, where NopyHN‐(2‐aminophenyl)pyridine‐2′‐carboxamide, NmpyHN‐(3‐aminophenyl)pyridine‐2′‐carboxamide and BpnH2=N,N′‐bis(2′‐pyridinecarboxamide)‐1,8‐naphthalene, have been prepared. Properties, molar conductance measurements and spectral (d‐d, IR and 1H‐NMR) data are discussed in terms of possible structural types and the nature of the bonding. The deprotonated complexes have N4 square planar coordination, while in the compound Pt(BpnH2)Cl2·1.5H2O the ligand displays an apparent unique trans‐bidentate function. NopyH and NmpyH act as monodentate ligands, bonding through the amino group.
