COLD URTICARIA FOLLOWING MEASLES IN THREE SISTERS

Abstract

In the investigations of cutaneous reactions and of peripheral vascular phenomena, the wheal has been a subject of much interest. Its appearance under various influences has confused the investigators in their effort to fix a single ultimate substance or cause as the direct etiologic factor. Interest in urticaria due to cold has been fostered in part by its apparent pathogenic difference from those urticarial states which result from internal factors, allergic influences, histamine injections, burns and the like. During recent years many cases of urticaria due to cold have been reported, especially in the German and Viennese clinics, but the literature fails to reveal one instance of the occurrence of this condition following measles.
