Abstract
1. After injection of 3,3[image]-diiodothyronine to thyroidectomized rats, the presence of 3,3[image]-diiodothyroacetic acid has been demonstrated in the kidney. 2. After injection of 3,3[image],5[image]-triiodothyronine the presence of 3,3[image],5[image]-triiodothyroacetic acid and of minute amounts of 3,3[image]-diiodothyroacetic acid has been shown in the kidney. 3,3-diiodothyronine is also present and 3,3[image]-diiodothyroacetic acid is probably a metabolic product of it. 3. As the administration of both isomers of triiodothyronine (3,3[image], 5[image] and 3,5,3[image]) leads to the formation of 3,3[image]-diiodothyronine, the deiodination process of these substances appears to be relatively unspecific. Keywords
