Abstract
Osteoporosis, a pathologic condition of the skeleton marked by a decrease in total bone mass, may be produced by many different chronic insults. Early institution of preventive measures in all persons with risk factors is the most desirable goal, but recent evidence shows that several treatment regimens are effective, even in patients with well-advanced disease. Keywords
