Abstract
Numerical solutions of the wave equation in a plasma with a nonlinear index due to the ponderomotive force show self-focusing and strong aberration effects including bifurcation at high power. The same features are seen in plane and cylindrical geometry and nonuniform as well as uniform plasmas. Keywords
