Abstract
The frequency of reliable central venous pressure measurements from the percutaneous cannulation of a central vein through the basilic vein was 52.8% using a Bardic I-catheter and 77.7% using an Abbott Drum-Cartridge catheter. For catheterization of the superior vena cava or the right atrium, 85.7% of catheters inserted through the subclavian vein could be positioned satisfactorily compared with 39.6% of I-catheters and 70.3% of Drum-Cartridge catheters passed through the basilic vein. Keywords
