Abstract
Some Indian Lower Gondwana compressions of sterile and fertile Sphenopteris -like fern fronds are assigned to Damudopteris polymorpha (Fiestmantel) comb. nov. Its leaves show a distinctive epidermal structure and the sporangia have a transverse, multiseriate annulus, interrupted on one side by a vertical stomium. On the basis of these sporangia it is suggested that the fern annulus may have had one or more alternative courses of evolution other than the one suggested by Bower (1923).This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
