Abstract
A molecular photo-double ionization cross section is derived by defining the molecule's transition dipole moment in a molecule-fixed frame in analogy with helium double ionization. Transformed to the laboratory frame, the result helps explain the striking similarity of measured electron-pair angular distributions in and helium and a surprising enhancement in the molecular cross section observed where the atomic distribution vanishes. Keywords
