Abstract
The method of estimation used is that due to Bruggemann, Karg and Kappeler, in which the color produced with 2:4-dinitrophenylhydrazine in sulfuric acid is measured. This color is given by epinephrine in the cold, and by ascorbic acid after heating; the estimation may be performed on the same aliquot. Using this method, the effect of insulin on the adrenal levels of the two substances was measured. The levels of both substances were depressed to a maximum of about 40% within 2 hours. Experiments in which glucose, epinephrine and norepinephrine were given are also described and discussed.
