Abstract
Patients suffering from manic-depressive psychosis showed cyclical changes in total body water, body weight and "solid weight" (body weight less the weight of the total body water) which corresponded to their mood cycles. The total body water and body weight were minimal and the "solid weight" maximal when depression was severe. The reverse was true in the latter stages of mania. Remission from depression was accompanied by similar changes in body composition as were reported earlier for a group of depressed patients during recovery. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
